For guaranteed weld ability, the Carbon Equivalent using the formula (when micro alloys are not used). CE = C + Mn/6 ,shall not be more than 0.42 percent.

Reinforcement bars/wires with higher Carbon Equivalent above 0.42% would, however, be welded with precaution.

Note: In IS : 1786 - 2008 no mention has been made for definite percentage of Mn content as such For better elongation values, it is suggested to maintain a higher Mn content, i.e. above 0.50% and the upper limit depending on the requirements of properties of TMT Bars.

  • SHRICON/POWERPLUS embossed on each meter
  • Carbon level is kept on lower side of the IS specification

Frequency of Checking:

  • Weight/Meter (Kg/m) Checking in every 5-6 Minute& adjust the weight as when require to maintain standard weight.
  • Sample drawn in every half an hour for mechanical Properties like, Weight/Meter, Proof Stress, Ultimate Tensile test and Bend & Re Bend Test as per IS: 1786:2008
  • Water pressure & flow checked & adjust as and when required.
  • Visual checking in cooling bed, rib, rollout, surface defect etc.
  • Checking of Temp, at entry Bar & Exit Bar.
  • Checking of Temp. Re-heating furnace..
